Linden’s Restaurant & Microbrewery located in “Old Town” Fort Collins presented multifaceted design challenges in renovating space that occupies two adjacent historic buildings. The greatest challenge was to accommodate dining for 100 people, a live music venue with stage and theater lighting and a microbrewery operation.
Engineering disciplines worked closely to stabilize the structure and provide new infrastructure for intended use. Programming identified the best areas for a new kitchen, food storage, brewing operation, bar, seating area and stage. The design intent reinforced the existing structure’s historic character while providing visual interest at every viewpoint.
Dramatic lighting highlighted the bar and brewery area. Non-historic facade materials were removed and the storefront was reclaimed to closely match the original design. A new storefront paint scheme accented the rich architectural detailing. Exterior lighting illuminates the upper cornice and reinforces the building’s presence at night.
