Architecture Plus provided design services that completely changed and revitalized the method of meal delivery and the existing dining environment at Fort Collins High School. This project was successfully completed on a fast track schedule over the summer months. One of the energy features of this project includes the first ever use by PSD of LED lighting modules for interior down lighting and the use of Sola-tubes to enhance natural daylighting within the space. Originally set up to accommodate outside vendors, the project scope removed the vendor stalls and staging areas and replaced them with a new, “full service” kitchen designed for efficiency and high volume production and four new serving stations to satisfy the varied menu items requested by the students.
To increase seating densities, Architecture Plus developed a “Bistro” concept that utilized a variety of seating options including booths, stand-up tables, and dining counters along the walls. These options were integrated into a restaurant themed space which appeals to students’ desires for fresh, delicious food served quickly and with a variety of options for eating and socializing with their peers and teachers.
“As a Project Manager for Poudre School District, I had the privilege to work with various team members from Architecture Plus over the last ten years. They were very intuitive and came to the design table with great ideas that accurately conveyed the needs of the specific school they were working on…I would gladly work with Architecture Plus again. I feel the staff I have worked with is highly suited for school district work. They have a good understanding of how educational facilities operate. They understand the needs of the staff and the limitations of budget and time that we are constantly working to coordinate.“ --- Tammie Knauer
