Architecture Plus and Clothes Pony worked with both the Landmark Preservation Commission and the Downtown Development Association to renovate the exterior back wall of this historic building and coordinate with other alley improvements. The project replaced the crumbling facade, where the original second-story windows and door had been removed at some point in the building’s history, with new brick and stucco to restore its historical accuracy.
The interior masterplan renovated over 2,000 SF of unusable space into additional merchandising area on the lower level and mixed business/offices on the upper level. ADA improvements were also made including adding accessible restrooms, changing room and a ramp into the building.
This remodel successfully combined aesthetic coordination with adjoining neighbors, historical significance, and structural integrity to upgrade this old building to modern standards.
