I don’t know about YOU, but I haven’t been to the new One World Trade Center building. I have a friend who was a contender in proposing the new design, but after years of wrangling, the final design was chosen (not hers) and building started. After loving the Twin Towers for so many years, the whole thing left me sick and mourning like everyone else. It is for THIS reason that you’ll want to watch the video below.
Although I have a fear of heights and a bigger fear of elevators (not elevators really, more like plunging to the ground) I love being able to observe the GENIUS design that has been created on the top 3 floors of the new building. Yes, even the elevator is a Triumph of creativity and you MIGHT get me in there without having to pick me up off the floor or wave smelling salts under my nose.
If you have 4 minutes, watch this on a quick break, to be inspired. Take a moment to applaud the rebirth of design amongst the pain of remembering those beloved icons that were the Twin Towers. The designers have created a beautiful experience that respects the old and the new. Talk about Mixed Media? This is the place. You’ve GOT to see not only the view, but the up-to-date kaleidoscope of additions that make this experience worth the $32 ticket ($26 for kids).
Another friend and her husband used to have a big loft in TRIBECA. They would open their bedroom curtains at night and it was the Trade Centers Twin Towers that served as “the best nightlight in the World”. May the new tower shine brightly and create new memories for years to come.
